PRESS RELEASE: ONCE-A-YEAR OPPORTUNITY AT EARTHY BIRTHY FAIR & FAMILY WELLNESS EXPO ON FEB. 22, 2020

This Saturday, Feb. 22, offers a one-of-a-kind educational, resource, and shopping event, the annual Earthy Birthy Fair & Family Wellness Expo from noon to 4 p.m. at the Innovation Depot in downtown Birmingham.

Sponsored by BirthWell Partners Community Doula Project (BWP) and Baby Palooza, the Fair features more than 25 vendors and sponsors who gather under one roof to promote healthy, holistic products and educate expectant moms and families on state-of-the art birthing and parenting.

“The Fair attracts people of all ages, from college students and families with children to grandmothers. We also see young couples and fathers who are looking to learn more about healthy birthing and parenting, information that can be hard to find all in one place,” says Dalia Abrams, Executive Director of Program Operations at BirthWell Partners, which helps lead the way to healthy births in Alabama with childbirth education, doula training and support for moms, and co-sponsorship of the annual wellness Expo.

Doors open at 12:00

Special events this Saturday include:

1 p.m. Awards Ceremony: Cecilia Pearson, Publisher of Babypalooza, recipient of the “It Takes A Village Award” ; and investigative    reporter, Anna Claire Vollers, recipient of the “Advocate of the Year Award

1:30 p.m. Anna Claire Vollers, investigative reporter, of AL.com talks about “7 things I learned from spending a year reporting on mothers in AL”
2 p.m. Birth photographer Crystal Dorothy of CMD photography talks about “Documenting the Birth of Your Baby”
2:30 p.m.: Panel Discussion on “Assembling Your Birth Support Team” with an Obstetrician, a Certified Nurse Midwife, a Certified Professional Midwife, a birth doula, a postpartum doula and a representative from ICAN, the International Cesarean Awareness Network.
3 p.m.: Baby Wearing “Demonstration and Fashion Show”

 

The event is free, but you can register yourself and your guests in advance and purchase $1 or $5 worth of raffle tickets at Eventbrite.
